information

Our School is for children between the ages of three and seven. It is situated on the edge of Faringdon, a small historic market town and occupies a beautifully landscaped site, which includes a wood that was originally planned and planted by the staff and children. The school has two playgrounds and a large school field with play equipment for the children.

The main building dates back to 1872 and now serves as a school hall where assemblies and PE take place.

The school consists of three year 2 classes, two year 1 classes, 2 Foundation Stage classes (F1) and a nursery (F2). Our School has strong links with the Junior School which is just across the road and our Foundation Stage teachers works in partnership with the Pre-school. Each of the year 1 and 2 classes has a Smart board and all classes have between 3 and 4 computers to support pupils learning which are connected to the internet. The teachers at our school are well supported by a team of excellent teaching assistants and office staff.

Throughout the time children are with us, we encourage and respect independence, initiative and individuality; we work in close partnership with parents and are committed to being part of the community. We have high expectations and seek to develop in all our children a strong sense of responsibility for their own behaviour, and a respect for the rights of others.

Our school provides a caring and supportive environment in which our children can develop self confidence, self esteem and a love of learning. We want every child’s experience of our school to be both happy and successful.

What makes our School special?

  • We are one of very few schools in the County offering separate Infant School facilities, giving the School its own special identity and atmosphere related to the teaching of 3 - 7 year olds.
  • The School is large enough to ensure that a broad and varied range of interests and enthusiasms are brought to the task of teaching and learning whilst ensuring children feel secure.
  • We have excellent resources to support all curriculum areas.
  • Our Foundation Stage provides the opportunity for a smooth transition into main School.
  • We have a close working relationship with our partner Junior School on a site nearby, helping to ensure continuity between the two Schools.
  • Our teachers are all committed and enthusiastic about the special educational needs of 3 - 7 year olds.
  • The School has an excellent network of trained classroom assistants.
  • Inside the School the environment is stimulating, safe and welcoming.
  • The School grounds include challenging play structures, a nature reserve, pond and large playing field with a beautiful view.
