School Admissions
Prospective parents are encouraged to make an appointment to visit the school where they will be able to see the children working in class, meet the Headteacher and ask any questions. The school takes children from within the town of Faringdon, and from outlying villages.
We are equipped to integrate children with special educational needs and provide appropriate support and extra teaching or ancillary assistance where necessary.
Admission into the Nursery Class
Children are offered a place in our nursery class in the September of the school year in which they turn four and remain in the nursery until the following September. Children are offered either five morning sessions or five afternoon sessions, plus two one hour lunch club sessions. This makes up the entitlement of 15 funded hours per week. There are 26 places in the mornings and 26 places in the afternoons.
From September 2010 we will follow OCC’s new admissions policy for nursery classes when allocating places. In the event that the nursery is oversubscribed the following set of priorities will apply.
1.Children with a statement of Special Educational Need
2.“Looked after” children
3.Disabled children whose needs can best be met by attending this school
4.Children who live in the school’s catchment area. For the former, priority will be given as follows:Children with siblings already at the school
Children who live closest to the school
Children who live outside the catchment area, but who already have a sibling at the school
Children who attend the on site Pre-school
Further information is available in our nursery prospectus.
Admission into the main school
Following OCC’s admissions policy children are offered a place in the main school full-time at the beginning of the academic year in which they become five. A separate admissions form must be completed to enroll in the main school. In the half term prior to your child starting main school he/she will visit his/her new class for a minimum of a half day session to meet the teacher and see the classroom. You will be invited to attend a parent meeting at the beginning of this session.
