School Admissions
Prospective parents are encouraged to make an appointment to visit the School where they will be able to see the children working in class, meet the Headteacher and ask any questions. Registration forms are available from the School office.
The School takes children from within the town of Faringdon, and from outlying villages.
We are equipped to integrate children with special educational needs and provide appropriate support and extra teaching or ancillary assistance where necessary.
Nursery Class
All children are offered a place in the nursery class for two or three terms before they move into main School. Ideally we would like to offer a place to every child for three terms. Unfortunately this is not always possible. To make our selection as fair as possible we apply the following County Council admission criteria:
1.Children from within our catchment area, having particular social and/or educational needs. One place per session will be reserved for such children.
2.Children with brothers or sisters already at Faringdon Infant or Junior School.
3.Children living within the catchment area who are not included in the above categories - places allocated according to age.
Main School
We have adopted the County admissions policy (contained in Admissions to Oxfordshire Schools). This means children are offered a place in the main School part-time at the beginning of the academic year in which they become five. This becomes a full time place the term after their fifth birthday. However this place may continue to be in the nursery class until the term in which your child becomes five.
In the half term prior to your child starting main School he/she will visit his/her new class for a minimum of a half day session to meet the teacher and see the classroom. You will be invited to a parent meeting at the beginning of this session.
