special needs
Faringdon Infant School recognises the needs of the individual child and aims to provide the appropriate support and resources, where possible, to meet those needs. This includes children with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, gifted children, as well as those with emotional or social problems. Wheelchair access is available to most parts of the school.
When a teacher has a concern, parents will be contacted for an informal discussion.
Parents can also bring their concerns to the teacher’s attention. If a child requires additional support the teacher, with parental knowledge and support, will involve our Special Needs co-ordinator (SENCO) Cheryl Taylor and perhaps the Educational Psychologist and/or other support agencies where appropriate.
The School aims to monitor and evaluate any special provision, working in partnership with the parents.
