Parents as Partners
Home School Partnership (HSP)
As a parent you are automatically a member of the HSP. It is led by a committee of volunteers formed early in the Autumn term which should include at least one parent from each class. With budgets becoming an ever-increasing problem the focus is naturally on fund raising.
The committee has most recently raised money to build a castle in the School woods, purchase books for home/school reading scheme and outdoor play equipment for the Foundation Stage along with classroom equipment for children in years 1 and 2. At the end of each year the HSP presents all Year 2 children with a 'Leavers books' as they move to the Junior School.
As well as raising money the HSP provides an opportunity for parents to get to know one another through social occasions such as fashion shows and fairs. Meetings are usually held during the school day and everyone is welcome. Up-to-date information is posted on the notice board outside, on classroom notice boards and in our fortnightly newsletter.
If you would be interested in becoming a member of the HSP please enquire at the school office.
Parents as helpers in School
Some parents find that they enjoy the atmosphere of the School and the company of children. There are a wide range of jobs which always need to be done - some involving child contact, others not. Parents help for example, with supervision of swimming classes, cookery and sewing. We welcome and value any amount of time you can give.
Parent Teacher Consultation
In terms 1&4, individual timed appointments are offered to meet your child's teacher. In term 6, annual reports on your child's progress are written which include end of KS1 assessments for the children moving on to the Junior School. During this term parents of children in the Foundation Stage are invited into school to discuss the outcomes of their child's Foundation Stage Profile.
Teachers are also available on a more casual basis half termly so parents can come into classes to see their children's work.
Throughout the year parents are invited to attend meetings with a specific focus, such as, curriculum evenings and meetings to discuss transition from Foundation Stage to Key Stage 1. These meetings provide the opportunity for parents to become fully involved in the school and their child's education.
